Press Release related to the extension of the deadline for submitting requests for approval of special measures
Date: 18 March, 2021
SUBJECT: Press Release related to the extension of the deadline for submitting requests for approval of special measures
Having in mind the current epidemiological situation and the measures adopted by the competent authorities and institutions of Republika Srpska with the aim of protection against the deepening health and socio-economic crisis, the Management Board of the Banking Agency of Republika Srpska (hereinafter: the Agency) adopted the Amendments to the Decision on banks’ temporary measures to mitigate the negative economic consequences caused by the viral disease COVID-19, as well as the Decision on microcredit organizations temporary measures to mitigate the negative economic consequences caused by the viral disease COVID-19.
The adoption of these Amendments enables the extension of deadlines for submitting requests for approval of special measures to clients of banks and microcredit organizations whose revenues, i.e. sources of repayment are still reduced as a result of the pandemic impact, which results in difficult, impossible settlement of their obligations to banks/microcredit organizations or will be impossible in the future.
The aim of these Amendments is, first of all, to provide the opportunity for clients of banks and microcredit organizations facing negative economic consequences to submit requests for special measures during 2021, whereby the moratorium measure can be approved until 30 June, 2021, and the grace period measure until 31 December, 2021.
The Decisions in question will enter into force eight days after their publication in the Official Gazette of Republika Srpska.
