Banking Agency of Republika Srpska completed the resolution process of “Sberbank” a.d. Banja Luka
As known to the public from previous press releases, the Banking Agency of Republika Srpska (hereinafter: the Agency) has undertaken key activities within its competence, defined by the Banking Law and the Law on the Agency, and initiated resolution process against “Sberbank” a.d. Banja Luka (hereinafter: the Bank), based on the Decision on initiating the resolution process against the Bank.
By analyzing the condition of the Bank, it has been determined that the resolution of the Bank achieves all individual resolution objectives, with special emphasis on protection of depositors, protection of clients' funds and other assets, and avoidance of major adverse effects on the financial stability, including its expansion into market infrastructure, and maintenance of market discipline.
In this process, by assessing all the possibilities provided by the Law, based on all analyzed and available options, a resolution plan was adopted through the sale of shares, and based on the offer submitted by "Nova banka" a.d. Banja Luka.
Today we want to inform the public that the process of selling the shares of "Sberbank" a.d. Banja Luka and the transfer of ownership has been completed, and that as of today, the new owner of "Sberbank" a.d. Banja Luka is "Nova banka" a.d. Banja Luka. With the final step in the resolution process of “Sberbank” a.d. Banja Luka, “Nova banka” a.d. Banja Luka becomes its new owner, and for "Sberbank" a.d. Banja Luka the status of a bank under the resolution process has ended.
We are convinced that the complete security and continuity of business operations of "Sberbank" a.d. Banja Luka shall continue.
It should be especially emphasized that by timely action of all stakeholders in the process, the most important objectives have been achieved, which are preservation of the stability of the financial system of Republika Srpska and protection of clients’ funds and depositors.
